In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah for His blessings upon us. He is our Creator, our Helper, and our Inspiration towards guidance and righteous deeds. I do not exaggerate when I say that I am overwhelmed with immense happiness and joy as I write these few lines, celebrating and commending the launch of a significant achievement within the framework of establishing the emerging University of Lahj. This achievement is the establishment of the university’s website on the World Wide Web.
Today, websites on the internet, whether for governmental organizations, universities, companies, or individuals, have become a necessity rather than just an accessory. They serve to achieve personal and societal goals, facilitating the connection between people, the dissemination and sharing of information. They hold great importance in this regard, which is why we see a significant demand in various societies, from diverse individuals, to create websites, whether public or specialized, to serve public or private interests in people’s lives.
I emphasize that what we have accomplished in this field, despite its modesty, would not have been possible within this short period of our young university’s existence, without realizing the importance of the website for various educational and research activities of the university. Today, university websites have become a necessity for excellence and competition, as well as an essential means to implement educational principles and promote e-learning through communication with the student’s affiliated university via its websites on the internet.
Students and researchers also find ease in searching for and accessing information through encyclopedic websites and specialized websites in various fields of knowledge. Different people can easily obtain accurate information at any time. In this context, websites have also facilitated regular students in universities to check their grades and academic status, as well as communicate with their teachers through student portals available on these university websites.
Higher education deanships in universities heavily rely on the internet for their transactions. They serve the departments, colleges, and graduate students in the university, providing them with information, references, and ease of publication.
Furthermore, in universities, in addition to the educational and research aspects that heavily rely on the internet, many paper-based administrative and academic transactions are being transformed into electronic applications on their websites. This facilitates many transactions, enhances quality, and expedites the process.
